Route Map
About the MRTS
The Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) is an elevated railway running 24 km from Chennai Beach through Park Town and Chintadripet, then along the coast past Chepauk, Tiruvallikeni, and Light House, through the historic neighbourhood of Thirumayilai (Mylapore), south via Mandaveli, Greenways Road, Kotturpuram, and Thiruvanmiyur to the IT corridor stations of Taramani, Perungudi, and Velachery, before continuing to Puzhuthivakkam and terminating at St. Thomas Mount. It is the only elevated rail line in Chennai and offers scenic views of the Adyar estuary and coastline. The Velachery–St. Thomas Mount extension connects the IT corridor to the suburban rail and metro interchange at St. Thomas Mount, significantly improving connectivity for commuters across south and west Chennai.
