Mylapore Tank Street
The traditional shopping streets surrounding the iconic Kapaleeshwarar Temple form one of Chennai's most atmospheric bazaar experiences. The mada streets (the four streets encircling the temple tank) are lined with shops selling silk sarees, Kanchipuram silks, brass lamps, puja items, fresh flowers, and traditional jewellery. During festival seasons, especially Panguni Uthiram, these streets transform into a spectacular procession of colour, devotion, and commerce that has continued for centuries.
