Thousand Lights takes its name from the magnificent Hazrat Syed Shah Abdul Rahman Sahib Dargah, popularly known as the Thousand Lights Mosque, where it is said a thousand lights were once needed to illuminate its grand prayer hall. Positioned along Anna Salai (Mount Road), the area serves as a junction between the commercial bustle of T. Nagar and the institutional gravity of Chepauk. The Thousand Lights Metro Station on the Blue Line has further enhanced the neighbourhood's connectivity.
