Minjur
Minjur is a town located on the northern outskirts of Chennai, historically significant as an agricultural settlement along the Araniyar river basin. The town gained national prominence with the commissioning of the Minjur Desalination Plant in 2010, which supplies 100 million litres of drinking water daily to Chennai. Minjur is connected by the suburban railway line extending from Chennai Beach and serves as a gateway to the Pulicat Lake region. The area retains its semi-rural character with paddy fields and salt pans interspersed among growing residential pockets.
