The main deity is Lord Murugan and graced along with Valli and Deivanai. The temple has a five-tiered rajagopuram. The most attractive part is the sthalam known as Yuthapuri. Lord Murugan fought the demons on the seafront as known in Thiruchendur and the land front where the Lord put an end to the Asuras. Also Lord Murugan fought the demons was hailed as Thiruporur in the ancient as per the Puranas.
