Mahatma Ganthi “The Father of Nation”. On his memory, Ganthi Mandapam was built that is situated at Adyar, Chennai. The biggest memorial here is dedicated to Mahathma Gandhi and the building is designed as a fusion between a temple and an indoor auditorium such that the sun’s rays fall on Mahathma Gandhi’s ashes held here on October 2.74_big

The Gandi Mandapam was planned in memory for Mahathma Gandhi only and his memorial here was inaugurated in January, 1956. Rajaji Memorial was added here in 1975 in memory of Rajaji who was one of the important visionaries who had shaped free India and also served as India’s first Governer General. The Kamarajar Memorial here was added in the year 1976 and was inaugurated by Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister. All these memorials are beside to each others as neighbour hoods.
